A pictorial and descriptive guide to London and the British Empire Exhibition, 1925 This is a special edition of the Ward Lock travel guide (also commonly known as ‘Red Guide’), published for the second season of the British Empire Exhibition. It has the following description of Hong Kong: Hong Kong, thought it must be admitted that concrete and the average British atmosphere do not conspire to help the illusion. There are a restaurant, shops, and workshops in which natives may be seen at work on carved ivory, rattan wares, silver filigree work, silk embroidery and other industries. Many of the articles may be purchased.
