This box of Mah Jong playing cards is the made by Thomas De La Rue & Co., a famous printing company pioneering the modern design of playing cards. It is produced for the American electrical engineering company, Western Electric Company, as souvenir for the 1924 British Empire Exhibition. The playing cards are designed like Mah Jong, a popular tile-based game in China.
