The Golden Gate International Exposition, also known as San Francisco World’s Fair, was held at San Francisco’s Treasure Island in 1939. A ‘Chinese Village’ was built, mainly with the donations from the Chinese community in San Francisco. House of Fook Look was built as a typical Chinese gate tower. Two rickshaws could also be seen in front of the building of the illustration.
