Gerald Spencer Pryse was commissioned by the Board of the British Empire Exhibition to draw a series of paintings on different members of the British Empire. The painting on this Cinderella stamp is one of them. Pryse included a painting of “the coaling station in Hong Kong”, but it was rejected by the Board to publish.
