This photogravure postcard shows the Chinese Street facing the west end. The buildings on the left mimic the shophouses at Queen’s Road on the Hong Kong Island but is reduced in size. The shophouses here were only two-storeyed while the buildings in Hong Kong were at least three-storeyed. The display booth at the centre of the photo is a Chinese sampan (with the sail clearly shown) for exhibition purpose.
