This is a real photograph postcard (a photograph printed with a postcard back). This clear image was captured by Campbell Gray at the entrance from the angle inside of the Hong Kong Pavilion. On the left hand side of the photo, there is a flag printed with a letter ‘S’. It is a symbol of The Sincere Co. Ltd, Hong Kong’s first Chinese owned department store that established in 1900. Next to the shop of The Sincere are the Nanyang Brothers Tobacco Co., Ltd and the Old Curiosity Shop. The signage next to the entrance on the right guides visitors to the ‘model of Hongkong’ and ‘Hongkong by Night’ at the exhibition hall. Only the Chinese characters of ‘Hong Kong’ were shown at the entrance. The hut just outside the entrance (at the centre of the photo) is part of the British Guiana Section.
