This photogravure postcard shows a scene of ‘Solider of the King’, which is the last part of Torchlight and Searchlight Tattoo. The British soldiers wore uniforms from different historical times and marched into the Empire Stadium. The portrait of King George V is displayed at the centre. The song ‘Soldiers of the King’ was written and composed by Leslie Stuart, originally for celebrating the completion of Manchester Ship Canal. The music was performed by the HM Band of the Grenadier Guard.
